Collaboration with Project SMILE

Filmwallas has always believed in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation. In the past, we have collaborated with HCL Technologies to give a chance to new filmmakers to make crowdsourced films for a multi-billion dollar MNC. This year (2020), Fillmwallas is happy to join hands with a Singaporean non-profit, Project SMILE, to make a feature film (an anthology of 3 shorts) to celebrate their selfless work in the field of women's empowerment and social enterprise on the occasion of their 10th anniversary.

Project SMILE was founded in 2010 by a group of like-minded women with a vision and desire to help underprivileged women.  It is a volunteer-led organization deeply committed to empowering women and helping them lead a better life.  Starting out with helping 10 women in 2010, PS has now supported close to 100 women and their families, who benefit from their services such as emotional support, empowerment & training, financial assistance, social integration, referrals and informational support.

This film will be an attempt to showcase how Project SMILE steps in to help individuals facing crisis in life stand on their feet again, and bring the smile back on their faces. The overall objective of this project is to send a message to society that when circumstances turn bad, it is not the end of the world for those in trouble. There is help available. Together, we can learn to smile again!

The film is being written by award-winning script writer Dinisha Gangaram and will be helmed by the founder of Filmwallas, Zafar Anjum.

Proceeds from the screenings or sale of rights of this film will be donated to Project SMILE.

We are very thankful to the following kind-hearted donors and supporters who are backing up this effort of ours:

1. Mr. Jayesh Parekh,  Philanthropist, Co-Founder of Sony Entertainment Television, Senior Advisor at Jungle Ventures

2. Ms Vinita Choolani, CMO, INEX Innovate

3. Neeta Lachmandas Executive Director, Institute of Service Excellence, SMU
